my inspiration

Every time I visited my grandmother she would encourage me to create something. We could create art in a moment's notice because she always had art supplies readily at hand. She would give me a chunk of clay to make a sculpture or items from her recycle bin to create a mobile. She dragged me along on her painting adventures - rain or shine. I would sit as the model for her painting classes and she would invite me to go with her on trips to art galleries and museums. Our visit together to see a Claude Monet exhibition at The Art Institute of Chicago my 10th grade year of high school opened my eyes to the world of art in a new way.

My grandmother was such a blessing to me and developed me in such a passion and appreciation for art. I feel blessed to be able to pass on art experiences to my students at school as well as my own children, Molly Mac (8) and Warner (4).

"Eventually, my eyes were opened, and I really understood nature. I learned to love at the same time."
